The sky was an azure blue. The sun was like a fireball in the sky. Marshmallow clouds dotted across the sky. I was in a auditorium. I was going to take part in a violin contest. I nervously swallowed the lump in my throat. I stood with jelly-like knees as I waited for my teacher to call me to the stage. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I wobbled to the stage. Little did I know something surprising was going to happen.

The auditorium was packed like sardines. When I saw the crowd, I almost fainted. When I saw the sea of faces, my mind became blank. I forgot how to play the violin. My face turned as white as a ghost. Sweat dotted across my face. I wanted to give up.

Hoots of laughter escaped from the crowd. My face turned as red as a tomato. Tears flowed like a river down my cheeks. I was about to give up. What happened next was shocking. Among the crowd, I saw my mother encouraging me by mouthing the words, “You can do it!” Upon seeing that, I felt encouraged. With renewed energy, I played the violin melodiously.

After the contest, I thanked my mother for encouraging me. Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is. Thanks to her, I overcame my fear.
